Pride 365, My Work as GSBA’s Marketing & Communications Manager

As the Marketing and Communications Manager at GSBA, Washington’s LGBTQ+ and allied chamber of commerce, I lead strategy and creative direction for one of the most vibrant, mission-driven business organizations in the Pacific Northwest. My work here blends digital marketing, community storytelling, graphic design, and public affairs into a role that keeps me inspired every day.

GSBA is Bold, Inclusive, and bursting with color.

GSBA represents over 1,400 small businesses, nonprofits, and corporate partners across the Washington State. It is the largest LGBTQ+ chamber in North America and home to The GSBA Scholarship & Education Fund. From major events like EQUALUX to small business campaigns like Just Walk In, GSBA’s marketing touchpoints are diverse, complex, and community-driven.

Role and Responsibilities

I oversee all marketing and communications efforts, including: Developing and executing email and social media campaigns; Managing and redesigning sections of the GSBA website; Designing print and digital collateral for events, advocacy, and fundraising; Directing brand voice across newsletters, public policy blogs, media kits, and more; Collaborating with community partners, press, and city agencies.

Tools include Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop, Premiere Pro), WordPress, Constant Contact, Meta Business Suite, Google Analytics and ads, Bloomerang, Salesforce, and Growthzone.

Creative Approach

My approach is rooted in accessible design and inclusive storytelling. For example, my “Just Walk In” campaign was built to drive foot traffic to Capitol Hill businesses by blending local exploration with visual sticker book nostalgia. For large-scale events like the Pride Luncheon and Economic Development Conference, I built visual systems that adapt across digital, video, and print channels while maintaining a clear and cohesive voice.

Speaking of events, they are nonstop.

No, really. nonstop.

There’s something magical about seeing your designs behind a keynote or on a podium the mayor is standing at or on a step and repeat all over social media. Here’s a few of my favorite shots:

What About Numbers?

  • Email open rates are constant 39–45%

  • My team has more than doubled social media engagement year-over-year.

  • Tripled social media audience size.

  • SEO strategy on track to increase website visits in 2025 by 30%

  • Co-led the launch of a brand-new membership portal and directory optimization initiative.

  • My event designs and campaigns supported $800,000+ raised annually for LGBTQ+ scholars.

Happy To be here.

This role has deepened my skills in strategy, stakeholder engagement, and values-based marketing. I’m most proud of amplifying voices in my community and telling stories that make people feel seen, supported, and celebrated.
